Kanya Donsé Fanyi (KDF), in its Food and Nutrition Security Improvement Project (ASAN-Boké), funded by the ALCOA Foundation, continues to support beneficiaries in Boké Prefecture.
To empower women in diversifying their income sources, KDF trained twenty (20) women members of agri-food processing groups in Boké Prefecture to process ginger into natural juice.

From April 3 to 5, 2025, women from the Kolaboui, Kamsar, and Sangaredi groups learned simple techniques for promoting local ginger products (ginger juice made from 100% sugar, 100% honey, and 50% of each of these blends).

Bintya Camara, a member of the Kolaboui Donsé Fanyi group, promises to disseminate this knowledge among families for better food security. “The training received by KDF through the ASAN project has allowed us to better learn how to promote local products. I produce ginger in my field, but I didn’t know the processing techniques. I only sold fresh ginger. But today, I understand the added value of this product. I can only thank our technical partner (KDF) and financial partner (ALCOA Foundation). We have children and grandchildren. We are now elderly; we won’t keep this acquired knowledge.” It will be passed on to our children and grandchildren. We are happy. Cassava, corn, and today it’s ginger. We will be grateful for the efforts of KDF and the Alcoa Foundation.”

During the training, 101 250 ml bottles of ginger juice were produced (23 for demonstrations, 78 during group practice).
